North Beach Manor is a six-bedroom vacation rental home located in the historic Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

Spacious and comfortable, with your own
private beach access and just minutes from two major Seattle Parks and the Shilshole Bay Marina, this area is prime for many kinds of activities, including a number of great local eateries, a thriving craft beer scene, and attractions that celebrate Ballard's Nordic and maritime roots.

Seattle has a network of parks and trails, laid out by brothers John and Fred Olmstead in the early 1900’s. Seattle parks close at night; hours vary with the time of year. Carkeek Park and Golden Gardens Park are both very close to North Beach Manor, each with around three miles of walking trails through woodlands, lowlands and beaches. Park admission is free most days, with paid parking.

At Carkeek Park, hike the hillside trails with bridges over sparkling streams, or walk out across the overpass onto the beach. There is a boardwalk through the wetland area. Salmon migrate up the stream to spawn. Carkeek offers 220 acres of lush forest, meadows, wetlands, creeks, and beach as well as a barbecue and picnic area and playground in the lowlands above the beach.

At Golden Gardens swim, fish or rent a boat or paddleboard at the beach. There are a number of barbeque pits and picnic shelters, as well as a playground area and turtle pond for the kids. Golden Gardens is adjacent to Shilshole Bay Marina, which features a boat launch as well as short-term guest moorage, and other watercraft related amenities.

The Woodland Park Zoo has 1100 animals arranged by habitat. There are grottos for bears, elk, wolves and mountain goats among others. There are owls, flamingos and other birds. The zoo offers discounts for seniors, and reduced prices for kids. It’s a great outing, just a few minutes drive from North Beach Manor.

View big and small sailboats and motorized vessels negotiating the Hiram Chittenden Locks. Cross the dam and view fish migrating up the ladder through underwater viewing windows. Picnic on one of the lovely lawns.

Drive or catch the nearby #18 metro bus to Ballard and view the sculptures in Bergen Place on Market Street. Skateboarders can join in at the bowl on 22nd and 57th N.W.

Experience the many wonderful restaurants in the area like Ristorante Picolinos on 32nd Ave NW, or Ray’s Boathouse along Shilshole Ave. Larsen’s Bakery, less than a mile from the Manor, serves amazing Scandinavian pastries.
